That’s quite a workstation. What exactly is it used for? Are those the new Mac Pro’s?

They’re a couple of Nehalem towers. It’s a friend’s cart. It’s the current DIT station on Pretty Little Liars [season two is prepping now].

It’s used for backing up footage from the cameras and generating lookup tables on set. It can also generate dailies and deliverables in realtime.

man this is a awesome DIT Station! … i’m a lil worried about the “shiny” 24′ Apple Display, though … it’s not the best display for that type of work, isn’t it ? … ( so i guess thats what the panasonic is for, huh ? 😉 )

I assume the two towers are networked to the RAID. How is this achieved? Is that a little ethernet switch I see below the raid with the R/G wires running to it? Are transcodes with the Rocket still realtime with this setup- or is the rocket hosted in the same machine hosting the RAID controller?

The RAID is connected to one tower. The towers are networked together via both internal ethernet connections. Transcodes are >2x realtime [2x rockets] in the networked tower.
